  • Andrew is a tall, somewhat thin figure with a proud bearing. His features are both handsome and flawless, though it is difficult to tell if that is from good genetics or genetic engineering. His trademark is his mane of blonde hair, a wealth of golden strands that provide warmth and life to a face that reveals little emotion.
  • His personal taste is fashion tends to be understated - elegant, but not flashy. His uniforms, however, lean toward the elaborate, a habit picked up from his time as the second-in-command of the most powerful man in the Central Earth Union.
  • As if to balance things out, his uniforms lack the bevy of medals that officers tend to collect. The only one he wears on a regular basis is the one given to him for his heroism at the Battle of Luna.

Personal Information:
  • Until the Battle of Luna, Andrew was the commander of the Garde Impériale, the personal unit of CEU Warmaster Priscus Nox. With Priscus' death, he found himself in command of Union forces dedicated to the rebuilding of Lunar cities and facilities decimated by the Cataclysm. Though the promotion was welcome, he now finds himself a long way from the center of power. So far, he has managed to hide his bitterness at the situation, burying himself in an endless stream of tasks that need to be done.
  • Though he is not quite as cold as his expression makes him seem, Andrew keeps a distance from most people. Behind his crisp, professional exterior he is a warm, amicable sort of man, but few ever manage to breach those outer defenses. The aftermath of the Battle of Luna has done little to change this, and instead has strengthened his emotional shields. Many of those who rode to battle aboard the battleship Exarch he had known since childhood, and he feels the losses from that day keenly.
  • He is something of a collector, and has gathered a significant assortment of artifacts, literature, and music, much of it dating from long before the Cataclysm. Much of his interest in this is a result of his research into his own heritage, as the Destin line descends from old Earth nobility. Inspired by this is his personal coat of arms, a golden lion on a black field.

Biography:

For Andrew Destin, there was little doubt as to where his path would lead. It had, in fact, been set in motion long before he was born. His goal was one that would drive him since his earliest days: to see humanity united, rise from the ashes of their failure and move out into the stars, into the Golden Age that awaits them.

Concerned with the growing state of war in the Earth Sphere, the Destin family were among those who agreed that the next generation would need more than luck to survive. Given genetic enhancements that placed them above the limitations of "normal" humans, the young Coordinators were the best hope to drag humanity out of what became known as the Cataclysm. Though spared the worst of the ravages aboard the military-industrial colony of Thrace at Side 7, young Andrew Destin would learn from mankind's mistakes.

Placed in a training program at a young age, Andrew was one of the few that not only managed to meet the standards expected of the candidates, but to excel. As a pilot, he showed a great degree of skill, but it was his capabilites in other areas that drew the notice of those who were watching. His strategic abilities were far beyond his years, but it was his sense of judgement and surprising skill at diplomacy that made him ideal to lead a mission to Earth.

Posing as mercenaries for almost four years, his mission - to scout the young factions that had risen from the Cataclysm - had been a resounding success. The next time he returned to Earth's surface, he came to join the Central Earth Union, a rising power that had recently come under the influence of it's new Warmaster, Priscus Nox. Laying out his position to Priscus carefully, the Warmaster saw the wisdom in allying with Destin and his colonial backers. With Priscus' backing, in time, Andrew might become the Union's symbol to reach out to his fellow spacenoids.

Before the Battle of Luna, he had risen high within the Union's ranks. He was not merely a soldier under the Union's banner, but the commander of Priscus Nox's personal guard. Though the battle gained him the renown he had hoped for, the title of "Hero of the Union" was a poor trade-in for the position he had held before it. The death of Priscus at the hands of the Innovade's father had cast Destin firmly out of the center of power, a title now held by the former leader of the Axis Mundi, previously one of the Union's enemies. His promotion to General rang similarly hollow - he was left in command of a shattered fleet and decimated units, with the majority of the survivors being shifted to other fronts at Side 3 or on Earth itself.

The rise of the Frontier Commonwealth was the most bitter pill to swallow, as they had overtaken his own home at Side 7 along with the rest of the formerly independent colonies. Like vultures, they struck when the Union was weak, advancing their own petty goals while Union forces died to reclaim part of humanity's birthright. It is fortunate for Lance Screamer and the so-called men of his inner circle that Priscus did not listen to his second-in-command. If he had, Union forces would have secured their flank before attempting the Lunar campaign, leaving the Commonwealth to die in it's infancy.

While he might prefer a diplomatic solution (such as what happened with the Axis Mundi) he knows the madmen in charge of the Commonwealth will never back down. Luna may be far away from the Commonwealth-held Sides, but it gives him a chance to build his own power before the conflict flares up into open war. His influence may not be what it was when Priscus still lived, but he has begun to reach out and form new ties within the Union's ranks, and oversee the research of new designs and technologies.

Though he regrets the inevitable loss of life that will ensue, Andrew Destin firmly believes that the path to humanity's Golden Age now lies through the destruction of the Frontier Commonwealth. Unlike the Lunar Campaign and the reservations he held there, he will embrace the war to come.

On the battlefield, his cold, professional demeanor tends to slip, revealing an impulsive, hot-headed side of him that he tries to restrain. This style of "leadership from the front" makes him vulnerable, and several times he has survived only due to the benefit of superior technology.

Technical and Historical Notes

Reduced to 10% battle capability in the Battle of Luna, it has been rebuilt after a lengthy stay on the back burner. Even in such a state, it and the valuable combat data acquired during Andrew's years piloting it is leading to new designs, some of which may play useful roles in the future battles to come. Despite the usefulness of the MS, however, the former Garde Impériale commander has shown some reluctance to pilot it again. Perhaps there is a more suitable machine for him that has yet to be devised..

Technical and Historical Notes

With his primary unit basically destroyed at the moon, Destin has taken an interest in machines with variable load outs and easily replaceable body parts, similar to the FC's Victory series of MS. Though his group had already possessed the data for the Impulse Gundam, it was thought unnecessary with the Strike Freedom already completed. Since the battleship Durandal was already capable of using this system, it was a fairly easy switch to make. Though it is less powerful than Strike Freedom, how would the battle of the moon turned out if he had been able to repair his MS at will and adapt for different situations?

Technical and Historical Notes

Designed for Garde Imperiale commander Andrew Destin, the Boseschleier was commissioned in the wake of the Lunar conflict with DOME. While designed with the brief of a high-performance stealth unit for "black operations" work, much care was taken to include Destin's combat data from the Strike Freedom, his more ostentatious unit.

Built on a movable frame similar to the Strike Freedom for high agility, the Boseschleier is designed to make heavy use of the Mirage Colloid system and related technologies. The spines on the knees and feet act as control antennae, as do the oversized fins on the head and the two shoulder binders. Due to its heavy energy usage, the unit is equipped with a nuclear reactor rather than ultracompact battery.

In terms of armament, the Boseschleier has a trio of mid-powered Beam Cannons, one on each shoulder and one in the centre of the torso. The two shoulder cannons fire standard beams, while the chest-mounted one is a variant of the Strike Freedom's Calidus Multi-phasic cannon, but the three of them have a prototype combined fire mode which utilises the beam redirection properties of the Geschmeidig Panzer to blend the output of all three weapons into a shorter-ranged, large and powerful blast. The Geschmeidig Panzer system can also bend beam attacks from the central cannon with great accuracy. While it can be used to affect the trajectory of the shoulder cannons, it is limited to changing the angle of the initial blast rather than curving the beam towards a target. Also, unlike the original Geschmeidig Panzer system, the Boseschleier's is unable to redirect incoming fire.

The hand armaments of the Boseschleier are both large DRAGOON units, following on from Destin's heavy use of the Strike Freedom's remote systems. Loosely inspired by the variable weapons of of the Union's GN Mobile Suits, the Grosse Kutter sword can split into a large beam cannon in an instant, forming a beam between the two "prongs" of the sword. The Trikeros II Kai is based on the Blitz Gundam's armament (a spiritual forbear of the Boseschleier), and combines a small beam gun with a grappling claw. However, its most notable ability is the crystalline beam redirection structure it possesses, allowing it to absorb incoming energy weapons fire in shield form, and store or redirect it. This also suits the "stealth" theme of the Mobile Suit better than a highly-visible beam shield, or the ostentatious reflective system of the Akatsuki, as far as ranged defence is concerned. The output of both weapons can be manipulated with the Geschmeidig Panzer, even the absorbed energy output of the Trikeros II Kai.

Though it survived the battle of the moon, the Exarch was damaged in the process. It has since been repaired and rechristened the Durandal, after the legendary sword borne by one of Charlegmane's twelve paladins. Plans to add a Mirage Colloid System were drawn up by Destin himself, in light of the battle at the Moon. With the decimation of the Union fleet by satellite cannon equipped MS and the distinct possibility the technology may spread thanks to scavengers, a task force that can get behind enemy lines and eliminate them could be key.
