Catching up (Kit & Enigma)

Meet me in Istanbul - Dad
The message had been sent through as many backdoor channels as Ritter could find. Even with access to all Madalen had at her disposal as Chancellor, this wasn't the kind of task he could leave to anybody, even those he thought he could trust. Kit was still seen as the worst kind of criminal, and nothing Ritter could do would be able to erase that from the eyes of those within the Union. It was sent anonymously, and had a set of coordinates that would be deciphered upon arrival attached to it. The location they would point to was that of an old safe house used by the former Axis Mundi, one that didn't flip into a Union asset when Madalen had assumed her role.
The building was rather nondescript, a plain three story complex adorned in a plain off white colour and green highlights nestled in the northern part of the city. The metal gate providing entry to the building had a simple intercom next to it, with a single white button under the golden-tinted speaker grate.
Ritter had arrived some days ahead of time, not quite knowing when, or if the message he had sent to Kit would even be delivered properly. All he could do was wait and hope that everything went through.

The message from her father was something she had not come to expect. The man was busy with his life and Kit with hers. Holding the note, she looked out the window of the public shuttle she road and headed towards the meeting point. Disguised still in fear of what she had done in her past, Kit left the shuttle and began her way towards the safe house.
Leaving Lauren like this weighed on Kit’s mind as she finally arrived. Looking down at her phone, a hand moved and removed the glasses from her face. A quick message was sent telling Lauren to make sure she took care of herself and that Kit wouldn’t be long. Kit tossed aside her glasses and cap, a hand fixed her hair and she hesitated over the intercom. It had feel like forever since she had seen her father. The last time they came together, she had been killed in combat. Lips pressed together and she cleared her throat and pressed the button.
“I’m here Dad.”

Bzzzzzt
Ritter's heart began to race as he heard the apartment's buzzer echo through the room. He instinctively stood up, walking over to the door and hovering his hand over the intercom panel for a moment, taking a deep breath to calm himself. His hand shook as he moved his finger towards the entry button. He didn't know why he was acting so nervous now. Was he truly feeling this much guilt over not trying to see his daughter sooner? He was afraid that she would hate him for not contacting her sooner. Ritter worried that even if she understood why it had been so long, she would resent him for everything. He needed her though, now more than anything. She was one of the few who might be able to help him, and more importantly, she was one of the few he could actually talk to - and he needed that now more than ever.
"I'm here Dad."
His finger finally pressed the entry button. Ritter relaxed somewhat, the very sound of Kit's voice, even digitized through the small speaker, was enough to bring a sense of clarity to his mind. Even if he had never been there for her, the two of them shared a connection. No matter what, she was his flesh and blood, even if Ritter at times would doubt if he was the same man he had always been.
Kit would hear a click on the building's gate as it moved ajar. She would find that the entry to the building was unlocked, the inside was a simple hallway, illuminated with a clean white light and flanked by doors on either side would lead to a short flight of stairs. At the top, Ritter stood, back leaning against the frame of the entryway into the small apartment. He greeted Kit with a light smile.
"Come in and make yourself at home." He said as he motioned for her to come on in. The small apartment was rather quaint. The furniture beyond simple. A basic round table and two dining room chairs, basic appliances, a small couch sat next to a chair and some sort of wooden table facing a small display currently playing some twenty four hour news channel. Local decor was scattered throughout. The room gave all appearances of a regular lived in apartment, even if it hadn't had a resident in quite some time. A slight whistle would greet them as steam rose from a small silver kettle sitting on the stove top.
"Would you like something to drink? Tea, coffee, water?" Ritter asked, hoping he wasn't making things too awkward between them.
