" ...The Sides are a varied and unconventional setting, home to anywhere from 15 to 25 bunches of Island 3 colonies each, in addition to other lesser types and various, small asteroid bases. Many derelict colonies reside in all of these Sides, useful as raw material farms for various groups as well as hideouts for criminals and etc. The total population of humanity in Earth orbit is estimated at 1.5 billion... L1 and L2 are largely in ruin, home to Side 2 and Side 5 respectively. They rarely go by these names anymore, however, supporting only a couple of functional bunches and a few asteroids each. They are littered with dozens upon dozens of wrecked colonies, and are incredibly dangerous areas rife with pirate activity and difficult to navigate debris. As such few people ever travel through them, the pirates within well armed and capable of posing a threat even to military fleets. If you're a wanted man, L1 is the place to go..." - Glaug

Lagrange Point 1

Side 2 (Pastorale) - Pastorale has not recovered much from the damage it suffered as a result of the cataclysm. More than half the sector remains a ruined graveyard of colonies, the end result of a major battle between factions. The charred leftovers of asteroid bases are a common sight. Quality of life in Pastorale is very poor. Most inhabited colonies are urban and host elements of organized crime and small-time gangs. Drug addiction is a frequent scourge, and there isn't an effective police force to combat the epidemic. For those looking to keep away from prying eyes, Side 2 is usually their first stop. Some colonies have been significantly damaged but remain inhabited, meaning that their weather systems or rotations do not always function properly. In United Era 0022, an infection of parasitic aliens of unknown origins transformed this already perilous setting into a military showdown between the Central Earth Union and Frontier Commonwealth forces. Not only an unsafe place to live, but now a powder keg between two large factions as well, Pastorale is dangerous area probably best avoided, unless you're looking for trouble. People who come from Side 2 are commonly referred to as Pastoralians.

Lagrange Point 2

Side 5 (Voivode) - If Pastorale is considered among the worst places in the Earth's Sphere to live, Voivode isn't much better. Although quality of life is improved by comparison, there simply isn't much left in the sector to live on. As a previous Space Frontier Republic military stronghold before the Cataclysm, it was Side 5 that was hit among the hardest. Many of the colonies here were abandoned and never resettled, and now exist in various states of decay and neglect. Space pirates or mercenaries have settled into some abandoned colonies and asteroid bases, while worse entities may yet still lurk in even darker corners. Due to the powerful military presence that existed here before the Cataclysm, the local colonial leaders of Side 5 have the means to defend themselves and keep the peace, but with only so many inhabited colonies, there is little desire to revive the Side in its entirety. In some cases, local colonial leaders have even made mutually beneficial under-the-table negotiations with paramilitary groups. Among all the Sides, Voivode is the most independent and isolated, but not because of its location. Rather it is because the territory is sparsely populated and offers almost nothing of value. Those who venture here should be wary of which colonies they enter. People who come from Side 5 are commonly referred to as Voivodans.

Lagrange Point 3

Side 6 (Canoe) - Largely spared any significant damage from the Cataclysm, Canoe could be considered the popular vacation getaway for colonists. Colonies here tend to have larger than normal agrarian swathes resembling Mediterranean countryside, which lends to a calming and peaceful atmosphere. The population is quite stable, and there are rarely resource shortages due to the lack of overcrowding. The leaders of Canoe are very strict about who enters and leaves their territory. Contraband (guns, drugs, etc.) is prohibited in almost all colonies and the laws are sternly enforced. There has recently been some controversy about some colonies from Canoe actually shipping their imprisoned and mentally ill to Voivode. Ironically, despite Canoe's reputation as the most trouble-free of all the Sides, the Oasis Research Facility nearby holds a terrifying and deadly secret. People who come from Side 6 are commonly referred to as Canoans.

Lagrange Point 4

Side 1 (Soule) - Soule is modeled after the American South and has a distinctive southern coastal design. More than forty percent of each colony is made up of small rivers, estuaries, lakes, swamps, and marshes. Flooding is not an issue due to a controlled weather system, however the many colonies of Soule do require higher than normal humidity to sustain this treasured and beautiful ecosystem. While urban centers are plenty, Soule is another Side that like Canoe and Mitote that was built to emphasize style over substance. The population of Soule is a melting pot of citizens from the other Sides. Due to it sharing the same Lagrange Point as Mitote, the Frontier Commonwealth has a significant presence here. People who come from Side 1 are commonly referred to as Soules, or sometimes as a play on words, Soule-less.

Side 3 (Mitote) - These colonies were designed to resemble the American Southwest. Tall artificial mountains and deep red canyons are carved into the landscape. The culture here is almost entirely Midwestern. There are some suburban blocks centralized in the middle of the colonies. At opposite 'ends' exists a desert wilderness and the wild west, where small world towns enjoy a stoic and quiet lifestyle. There isn't much of a uniform government representing the Side on the whole, as the citizens of Mitote have always kept to themselves and preferred local governance. Mitote is well known for the number of bounty hunters it tends to produce. By United Era 0023, Mitote is the only Side to remain firmly aligned with the Central Earth Union. People who come from Side 3 are commonly referred to as Mitotians.

Lagrange Point 5

Side 4 (Acque) - Acque is known as The Heart of the Commonwealth, for it is here the Frontier Commonwealth was formed. This sector has fully recovered from the Cataclysm. It has been built up and fortified significantly. No less than three substantial military installations, all asteroid-bases, defend and protect the Side. The standard of living here is fair-to-high, despite some overcrowding as the colonies were designed after Seattle-based urban settings. There is a strong nationalist movement among the populace here. Amongst all the Sides, only Side 7 is more populated. People who come from Side 4 are commonly referred to as Acque(s), or a more recent and derisive term, Legionnaires, as a result of the Commonwealth's expansionist policies.

Side 7 (Daze) - Alongside Acque, Daze makes up much of the Frontier Commonwealth's political and military powerbase. Side 7 is very culturally diverse and significantly overcrowded as a result of being the rallying point for spacenoid refuges after the Cataclysm for many years. If Acque is to be considered the upper class of the Commonwealth, Daze would fit the bill as the working class behind the massive engine. Similar to Side 4, the populace of Daze is urban and firmly entrenched within the Commonwealth's camp. Issues of overcrowding have only made them more zealous in their campaign for greater territory and control over the Sides. People who come from Side 7 are sometimes referred to as Daises, or as a more irreverent term, the Dazed & Confused.
